DOD Announces Recruiting and Retention Numbers for Fiscal 2012, Through April


The Department of Defense announced today recruiting and retention statistics for the active and reserve components for fiscal 2012, through April.
Active Component.
Recruiting. All four active services met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal 2012, through April.
Army - 32,711 accessions, with a goal of 32,500; 101 percent
Navy - 18,196 accessions, with a goal of 18,196; 100 percent
Marine Corps - 12,225 accessions, with a goal of 12,186; 100 percent
Air Force - 16,309 accessions, with a goal of 16,309; 100 percent
Retention. The Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force all exhibited strong retention through the seventh month of fiscal 2012.
Reserve Component.
Recruiting. Five of the six reserve components met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal 2012, through April.
Army National Guard - 28,634 accessions, with a goal of 30,168; 95 percent
Army Reserve - 16,436 accessions, with a goal of 15,623; 105 percent
Navy Reserve - 4,418 accessions, with a goal of 4,418; 100 percent
Marine Corps Reserve - 5,096 accessions, with a goal of 4,851; 105 percent
Air National Guard - 4,893 accessions, with a goal of 4,879; 100 percent
Air Force Reserve - 5,013 accessions, with a goal of 5,013; 100 percent
Attrition - All reserve components are on target to achieve their fiscal year attrition goals.
