Hoyer Statement on Senate Passage of Export-Import Bank Reauthorization
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after the Senate passed the bipartisan House bill to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank by a vote of 78-20:
“I am pleased that the Senate passed the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank that the House approved last week. This bipartisan legislation will enable the Export-Import Bank to continue helping American businesses remain competitive in overseas markets, which will, in turn, provide manufacturers with greater certainty that they can invest in growth and create well paying jobs here in our country. Last year, Export-Import Bank financing was responsible for nearly 300,000 jobs added and for over $41 billion in export sales.
“This legislation, which House Democrats unanimously supported, is an important component of the Make It In America plan to strengthen manufacturing and create jobs, and I commend the Senate for acting swiftly on it. I look forward to the President signing it into law as soon as possible so we can end the uncertainty faced by businesses looking to expand and increase their exports this year.”
