At the White House daily briefing, Secretary Arne Duncan talked about the impact of sequestration budget cuts to education program such as early childhood, primary and secondary education, and Impact Aid funds that involve military families and Native Americans education programs. Afterward, Jay Carney answered questions on President Obama's March 1 meeting with congressional leaders regarding sequestration, deficit reduction, and the civil war in Syria. "Sequestration," a legal procedure in which every federal agency has the same percentage of its budget cut in order to take back deficit spending, was agreed to in the Budget Control Act of 2011 and scheduled to happen on March 1, 2013.
