LACYD Joins CA League of Conservation Voters to Support John Laird for State Senate

The election of Democrat John Laird to the State Senate is a top priority for Democrats in California this summer. This August 17 special election is between two candidates with stark contrasts. John Laird is an environmental champion who is supported by progressives while his Republican opponent is a former Exxon executive who is being supported by Big Oil. Winning this seat would not only make the Democratic majority in Sacramento stronger, but it could put us just one vote away from the legislative voting threshold we need to effectively create green jobs and control the cost of college tuition.

This special election is also an opportunity to turn a red seat blue! Many voters who would vote for John Laird are not aware of this critical special election. We need your help in getting out the vote!

Please help spread the word by volunteering just an hour or two of your time between now and August 17 to contact voters in the district and help mobilize John’s supporters.

The California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV) is making its LA office available from now until Election Day for volunteers. The CLCV office are located at:

LACYD hosts Book Signing with Christine Pelosi

Christine Pelosi, daughter of Speaker Nancy Pelosi recently authored a guidebook for citizens wanting to enter public service and become involved in their communities, whether through working with nonprofit agencies or seeking election to office.

The Los Angeles County Young Democrats are hosting a book-signing event to offer young Dems in Los Angeles the chance to meet Christine and hear her speak about Campaign Boot Camp.

The event will occur this Saturday from 11am-noon in Hollywood.
