Near East and North Africa: Tribal Resistance to Counterterrorism Efforts in Yemen
The Near East and North Africa Regional Policy Overview has been updated with publications from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace analyzing the Palestinian Authority's decision to cancel local council elections and assessing the impact of Turkey and Iran's behavior on the security situation in the Middle East, a Jamestown Foundation article analyzing tribal resistance to counterterrorism efforts in Yemen, a Washington Institute for Near East Policy article assessing the Obama Administration's approach to engagement with Hezbollah, publications from the Brookings Institution examining the situation in Jerusalem and Ramallah, recommending a new U.S. strategy for Lebanon, and assessing the role of energy pipelines in strengthening interstate relations in the Middle East, and a Council on Foreign Relations report evaluating the risks of a renewal of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
