New National Space Policy of the USA Released - Plus Statements on the Policy by President Obama and Secretary Gates and Reports on Energy Security, DOD's Ability to Handle Surprise, and the Implications of the Recession for National Security Strategy
The National Security Strategy MiPAL has been updated with the National Space Policy of the United States of America, as well as statements by the President and the Secretary of Defense on the new policy and a White House fact sheet providing an overview on the key elements of the Obama Administration's approach to space strategy, remarks by the Administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development presenting details on efforts to reinvent USAID to better meet current development and security challenges, a report by a U.S. Senator providing recommendations for addressing the national security risks associated with America's oil vulnerability and dependence, a Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments report assessing the implications of the recession for U.S. defense posture and for the future of U.S. national security strategy, a Council on Foreign Relations report analyzing the intersection between energy resources and national security, examining policy options, and presenting an agenda for energy security research, a Center for Strategic and International Studies report identifying and evaluating the Department of Defense's capabilities for addressing possible areas of surprise, and a Joint Force Quarterly article featuring commentary on U.S. counterinsurgency doctrine.
