SEC to propose money-fund reform next week
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The Securities and Exchange Commission on June 5 will introduce a long-awaited proposal to reform the $2.7 trillion money-market fund industry. The money-fund industry, so far, has successfully blocked efforts by the SEC to impose new regulations. A spokesman for the industry group, the Investment Company Institute, said Wednesday that it "looks forward to seeing the rule proposal on money market funds that the commission plans to consider at next week's meeting."
