U.S. stocks open higher to 15,370
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks opened higher on Tuesday, with investors expected to scrutinize speeches by two Federal Reserve officials for any clues as to when the central bank may begin to scale back its $85-billion-a-month asset-purchase program. St. Louis Fed President James Bullard and New York Fed President William Dudley will give speeches on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 35.59 points to 15,370 and the S&P 500 index gained 1.34 points to 1,667.5. The Nasdaq Composite gained 3.5 points to 3,499.9.
