Readout of Secretary Hagel's Meeting with Defense Industry Leaders

Pentagon Press Secretary George Little provided the following readout:

Secretary Hagel met this afternoon with defense executives from a number of corporations including top tier firms, small businesses, and service providers. The meeting was hosted by the Aerospace Industries Association, the National Defense Industrial Association, and the Professional Services Council.

Secretary Hagel conveyed his commitment to open dialogue with the defense industry as both corporations and the department deal with fiscal constraints. Secretary Hagel stressed that one of his key priorities is a strong and healthy industrial base that efficiently supports national security objectives. He also expressed his strong support for expanding defense trade with allies and partners around the world and commended corporations for their veterans hiring initiatives.
