Markit's final manufacturing PMI at 54.6 in March
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The final reading of Markit's U.S. manufacturing purchasing managers index was 54.6 in March, down from the flash reading of 54.9 but above February's 54.3. Any readings above 50 indicate expansion. The PMI averaged 54.9 for the first quarter, the strongest quarterly performance in two years. The similarly constructed Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index is due at 10 a.m.
