Democratic Whip Hoyer Launches New Website, New Features Include Digital Calendar Subscriptions
WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) announced today the launch of a new DemocraticWhip.gov with new features including the ability to digitally subscribe to the House calendar. Whip Hoyer issued the following statement:
"I am pleased to announce the launch of a new website that includes new tools that make the House more open and accessible. One of my primary responsibilities as House Democratic Whip is managing the House calendar in concert with the Majority Leader. I am pleased to announce that anyone will be able to digitally subscribe to the House calendar, and, for the first time, subscribers will have the latest House scheduling information automatically delivered to their personal calendars. I hope many Members of Congress, Congressional staff, press, public citizens, and third-party systems take advantage of this new tool, and I look forward to continuing to make the work of the House more open and accessible to the public."
The new digital version of the House calendar can be found at DemocraticWhip.gov/calendar where people can digitally subscribe either through Google Calendar or through the open iCalendar standard that is compatible with a number of different calendar clients including Microsoft Outlook. Subscribers will not only receive a copy of the current House calendar but will also automatically receive future updates to the House calendar as soon as they are announced; for example, when the Majority cancels scheduled voting days.
Other new features on DemocraticWhip.gov include a new design that displays the latest tweets from @WhipHoyer and a snapshot of the latest House schedule information on the homepage.
