Reid aims for Cordray, White votes after Easter
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday said he would arrange floor votes on President Barack Obama's nominees to run the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau "sometime after Easter, as soon as I can." The Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday approved the nominations of Mary Jo White to head the SEC and Richard Cordray to head the consumer agency. Many Republicans want to change the way the CFPB is set up, and on Tuesday Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said that Cordray's nomination would be a good time to "leverage" the party's concerns.
