U.S. stocks rally after positive housing reports

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks climbed Tuesday after another report cast a postive light on the U.S. housing market and consumer confidence climbed more than expected this month. Stock-index gains came as the Federal Reserve released Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke's prepared testimony to lawmakers. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 120.33 points, or 0.9%, to 13,904.96. The S&P 500 index climbed 9.18 points, or 0.6%, to 1,497.03. The Nasdaq Composite added 16.81 points, or 0.5%, to 3,133.05.
