General Officer Assignments

The chief of staff, Army announced today the following assignments:

Maj. Gen. Allen W. Batschelet, director J-3, U.S. European Command, Germany, to commanding general, U.S. Army Recruiting Command, Fort Knox, Ky.

Maj. Gen. William C. Hix, director, concept development and learning, Army Capabilities Integration Center, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., to deputy director/chief of staff, Army Capabilities Integration Center, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.

Maj. Gen. Stephen L. Jones, commander, Joint Task Force-National Capital Region Medical, Bethesda, Md., to commanding general, U.S. Army Medical Department Center and School, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas.

Maj. Gen. Paul J. LaCamera, deputy commanding general, U.S. Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C., to commanding general, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) and Fort Carson, Fort Carson, Colo.

Maj. Gen Austin S. Miller, special assistant to the deputy commanding general, U.S. Special Operations Command, Washington, D.C., to commander, Special Operations Joint Task Force-Afghanistan/North Atlantic Treaty Organization Special Operations Component Command-Afghanistan, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan.

Maj. Gen. Thomas S. Vandal, director of operations, readiness and mobilization, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to commanding general, 2nd Infantry Division, Eighth U.S. Army, Republic of Korea.

Maj. Gen. Ming T. Wong, commanding general, Southern Regional Medical Command/Brooke Army Medical Center/chief, Dental Corps, Joint Base San Antonio, Texas, to commanding general, Northern Regional Medical Command/chief, Dental Corps, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Brig. Gen. Bryan R. Owens, who has been selected for the rank of major general, deputy chief of staff for operations, Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, England, to director, J-3, U.S. European Command, Germany.

Brig. Gen. James F. Pasquarette, who has been selected for the rank of major general, deputy director, program analysis and evaluation, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-8, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to chief of staff, U.S. Army Pacific, Fort Shafter, Hawaii.

Brig. Gen. Christopher P. McPadden, director of future plans, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, to director, concept development and learning, Army Capabilities Integration Center, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va.

Col. Leon N. Thurgood, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, deputy program executive officer, missiles and space, Redstone Arsenal, Ala., to program executive officer, missiles and space, Redstone Arsenal, Ala.
