Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Robert D. Hormats will travel to Agra and New Delhi, India January 26-31, 2013.
Under Secretary Hormats’ visit to India will highlight our efforts to expand and enhance the U.S.-India economic relationship, U.S. support for broader regional economic cooperation, and our engagement with India on environmental and conservation issues.
On Monday, January 28, Under Secretary Hormats will deliver remarks on “The New Emerging Global Economic Order: Role of Developed Nations” at the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Partnership Summit 2013 in Agra.
Under Secretary Hormats will then travel to New Delhi, where he will meet with Ministry of External Affairs Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai and other senior Government of India officials. Also in New Delhi, Under Secretary Hormats will take part in a roundtable discussion with Indian and international environmental NGOs and nonprofit groups on wildlife trafficking issues on Tuesday, January 29. Additionally, he will deliver remarks in support of India’s efforts to expand economic ties with South and Southeast Asia at the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and co-hosted by the U.S.-India Business Council on Wednesday, January 30. On Thursday, January 31 Under Secretary Hormats will deliver remarks on sustainable water, energy, and food security policy at the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit.
