Ex- U.S. Attorney White eyed to lead SEC: report
from MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - Former U.S Attorney Mary Jo White is under consideration to be the next chief of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Bloomberg reported Thursday citing three people with knowledge of the matter. White is now a partner at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York. If picked, White would replace SEC Chairman Elisse Walter who can serve until end of 2013 unless reconfirmed. White served as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York and, according to the report, convicted four followers of Osama Bin Laden for the 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies in Africa that killed 224. She also previously served as a director at Nasdaq.
