Obama sworn in to start second term
from MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse
NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Barack Obama took the oath of office on Sunday in a small White House ceremony that begins the 51-year-old president's second term. Chief Justice John Roberts began administering the oath at 11:55 a.m. Eastern. The first black U.S. president first took office in an economy mired in recession. Obama now faces negotiations with Republican members of Congress over raising the nation's debt ceiling and reducing federal spending. Vice President Joe Biden was sworn in earlier Sunday at the vice presidential residence, with Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor administering the oath.
