National Archives Hosts Free Public Program on President Kennedy
Capturing Camelot: Stanley Tretick’s Iconic Images of the Kennedys

Washington, DC…The National Archives hosts an evening book lecture on Thursday, January 10, at 7 p.m. to discuss photographs in the book Capturing Camelot: Stanley Tretick’s Iconic Images of the Kennedys.

Photojournalist Stanley Tretick was sent by United Press International to follow the Kennedy campaign in 1960. When Kennedy became President, Tretick was given extensive access to the White House, and the picture magazine Look hired him to cover the President and his family. Best-selling author Kitty Kelley and NPR’s Scott Simon show and discuss photographs from the book Capturing Camelot, which contains more than 200 of Tetrick’s images, many never-before seen, along with Kelley’s accompanying essays. A book signing will follow the program.

This public program is free and no registration is required. It will be held in the William G. McGowan Theater of the National Archives Building in Washington, DC. Attendees should use the Special Events entrance on Constitution Avenue at 7th Street, NW.
