Eli Lilly charged by SEC with bribery violations

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- The Securities and Exchange Commission charged pharmaceutical Eli Lilly & Co. with violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for improper payments its subsidiaries made to foreign government officials to win millions of dollars of business in Russia, Brazil, China, and Poland. Lilly agreed to pay disgorgement of $13,955,196, prejudgment interest of $6,743,538, and a penalty of $8.7 million without admitting or denying the violations.
