WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- A meeting between President Barack Obama and House Speaker John Boehner was "frank" and lasted 50 minutes, a Boehner spokesman said late Thursday. The two were discussing a plan to avert the fiscal cliff, the series of tax hikes and spending cuts due to hit next year without legislative action. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner also attended the meeting, the department said in a statement.
