WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- House Speaker John Boehner told reporters on Wednesday he was optimistic that a deal can be reached with President Obama to avoid the fiscal cliff. Boehner reiterated a willingness to put revenue on the table. Boehner also slapped down an idea by fellow Republican Tom Cole to vote to extend the Bush tax rates for all but the highest earners before the end of the year - and to battle over the rest later. "I disagree with Tom Cole," Boehner said.
