CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Former NBC CEO Jeff Zucker has been named president of CNN Worldwide, Time Warner Inc.'s Turner Broadcasting said Thursday. Zucker, who will take over the post in January, will have oversight of CNN, HLN, CNN International and CNN.com. He will report to Turner Chairman Phil Kent. Zucker will be asked to help CNN find an identity, after years of primetime struggle in the Nielsen ratings against more politically outspoken rivals Fox News and MSNBC. Zucker's tenure at NBC was largely marked by failure, as the network fell to last place among the Big Four after "Friends" left the air in 2004.
