IBM: Cyber Monday online sales hit record levels more than 30% from the same day a year ago

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- IBM Corp. , on Tuesday, released data showing that online sales on Cyber Monday rose more than 30% from the same day a year ago. The data, from IBM's Digital Analytics Benchmark, also showed more use of mobile devices in online commerce, as more than 18% of consumers used a smartphone or tablet to do their Cyber Monday shopping, and mobile-based sales accounted for 13% of all online deals on Monday. IBM said Apple Inc.'s iPad dominated mobile-device use in online shopping on Monday, accounting for 7% of all online sales on mobile devices, and more than 90% of the purchases made on tablets. IBM shares were off slightly in early trading Tuesday at $192.47.
