U.S. home prices up 0.2% in Sept: FHFA

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- U.S. house prices rose a seasonally adjusted 0.2% in September, according to the Federal Housing Finance Agency's monthly house-price index released Tuesday. Compared with the prior year, prices are up 4.4%, according to the index, which is based on data from Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac mortgages. Earlier Tuesday, S&P reported that the Case-Shiller 20-city composite index rose 0.3% in September, or a 0.4% gain after seasonal adjustment.
