Panetta orders ethics review of U.S. military
from MarketWatch.com - MarketPulse
BOSTON (MarketWatch) -- U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has ordered the Pentagon to conduct a review of the ethics culture of the U.S. military to determine why so many top-ranking officers have become embroiled in scandal, the Washington Post reported Thursday. The Post noted that the recent resignation of retired four-star general David Petraeus as CIA director over an extramarital affair with his biographer is just the latest scandal to rock the military. On Tuesday, Panetta demoted a four-star general for billing personal trips to the government, while an admiral was recently relieved of command for "inappropriate judgment." Meanwhile, a brigadier general of the 82nd Airborne Division is facing sexual assault charges. Panetta has requested that a preliminary report be delivered to him by Dec. 1.
