WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - The U.S. probably grew about 1.7% in the third quarter, up from 1.3% in the prior quarter, according to economists surveyed by MarketWatch. The government will release the initial report on gross domestic product at 8:30 a.m. Eastern. Higher consumer spending and an upturn in the housing market likely more than offset a weaker manufacturing sector and softer business investment.
