Comcast profit up its third-quarter profit doubled to $2.11 billion

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Comcast Corp. said Friday its third-quarter profit doubled to $2.11 billion, or 78 cents a share, from $908 million, or 33 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Excluding one-time items, Comcast earned 46 cents a share. The Philadelphia-based cable TV service and programming company's revenue increased by 15% to $16.54 billion. Wall Street analysts expected Comcast to earn 46 cents a share on sales of $16.07 billion, according to a survey by FactSet. Revenue for NBCUniversal increased 31.2% to $6.8 billion, primarily driven by 2012 London Olympics revenue of $1.2 billion. "The London Olympics exceeded all our expectations," Comcast said.
