Hoyer Statement on Labor Day

WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today in recognition of Labor Day:
“Today, Americans join together to honor the men and women who help make our nation and its businesses so successful. Despite a challenging economy, our country’s workers have continued to show extraordinary innovation and determination to out-produce our competitors. Our nation has a long history of striving to create more opportunities for our people to enter the middle class, and Labor Day is the perfect opportunity to renew our commitment to an opportunity-driven economy that works for working families.
"I urge House Republicans to work with Democrats to pass our Make It In America jobs plan that will invest in manufacturing to grow our economy. Doing so would demonstrate to America’s workers that their representatives in Congress are working for them - that we are determined to create well paying jobs that will help restore our economy so all of our people can pursue the American Dream.”
