Hoyer Statement on Republican Anti-Regulation Bill that Doesn't Create Jobs

WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after House Republicans wasted time by passing H.R. 4078, the ‘Red Tape Reduction Act,' another anti-regulation bill that does not create jobs:
“Today, House Republicans wasted more time as they passed yet another anti-regulation bill that will do nothing to create jobs or grow the economy while rolling back critical protections for consumers and the environment. With little time left on the schedule, we ought to be taking action on the middle-class tax cut extension the Senate passed yesterday. House Republicans should pass that bill immediately, so we can extend tax cuts for families and small businesses on income under $250,000. Passing the Senate bill would give certainty to 98% of families and 97% of small businesses that their taxes will not increase next year.
“The only thing today’s vote achieved was drawing a sharp contrast in priorities between the two parties, as Republicans waste time on political messages instead of getting work done for the middle class. It’s time Republicans set this partisanship aside and get to work with Democrats on real solutions, starting with something on which we agree – the need to extend tax cuts for small businesses and the middle class.”
