NRC TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE FOR SOUTH TEXAS PROJECT LICENSE RENEWALThe Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold an open house on Aug. 1 in Bay City, Texas, to discuss the results of an inspection for the South Texas Project license renewalapplication. The plant is operated by the South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Co.The open house is informal and will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the Center for EnergyDevelopment, 4000 Ave. F, in Bay City. South Texas Project Units 1 and 2 are both pressurized-water nuclear reactors, located12 miles southwest of Bay City. The plant’s current operating licenses for Units 1 and 2will expire on Aug. 20, 2027, and Dec. 15, 2028, respectively.The licensee submitted the renewal application in 2010.
