Hoyer Statement on President's Manufacturing Committee Final Report

WASHINGTON, DC - House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today in response to the final report ( http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default ... 7_2012.pdf ) from the President's Advanced Manufacturing Partnership Steering Committee:
“The final recommendations of the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership Steering Committee, released this afternoon by the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, represent another step forward in the Obama Administration’s drive to boost our manufacturing competitiveness. Many of the Steering Committee’s recommendations are contained in Democrats’ Make It In America jobs plan, which recognizes the central role of manufacturing in preserving and expanding America’s leadership in innovation and product development. I commend Steering Committee Co-Chairs Andrew Liveris and Susan Hockfield for their leadership in this effort.
“While Republicans in Congress continue to delay and obstruct Democratic proposals to invest in manufacturing growth and job creation, the President has continued to pursue other avenues aimed at making it easier for manufacturers to relocate here, innovate, expand, and create well paying, middle-class jobs. I hope House Republicans will set aside their objections to working with Democrats on a comprehensive jobs plan that will invest in the competitiveness of our manufacturing sector and help more manufacturers and the workers they employ Make It In America.”
