Updated code is a model for state, city, county, tribal, territorial
agencies and industry. The Food and Drug Administration today
announced the publication of the new FDA Food Code, a model code
and reference document that provides a scientifically sound technical
and legal basis for regulating the retail and food service segment
of the food industry. The 2009 FDA Food Code is a key component
of the Presidents overall public-health-focused food safety
framework for maintaining a safe food supply.

FEMA
Seeks Public Comment on National Flood Insurance Program
FEMA is always striving to improve our programs and as part of
that effort, we are currently gathering feedback from National
Flood Insurance Program stakeholders to gain input on the challenges
related to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and possible
solutions to those challenges.
The NFIP is a Federal program that was created by Congress in
1968. The program was designed to ensure that communities across
the country have access to affordable flood insurance as well
as encourage community floodplain management to reduce future
flood damage.
FEMA kicked off a 30 day comment period with the launch of a
two day listening session that began on November 5, 2009. The
purpose of these listening sessions and the public comment period
is to allow stakeholders the opportunity to provide valuable
input on various issues and programs related to the NFIP, such
as flood map modernization updates, reducing repetitive loss
properties, and other program topics.
For more information and to provide feedback related to NFIP,
please visit http://www.fema.gov/business/nfip/nfip_listening_session.shtm.
If you would like more information on the National Flood Insurance
Program please visit www.floodsmart.gov.

GREELEY 8 SCHOOLS
Northern Colorado College Democrats
Because of the failure of the Mill Levy
in Greeley, there are some budget cuts under consideration. One
of the proposed solutions is to cut the magnet arts from two
schools in Greeley. It is also possible that teachers will lose
their jobs as a result of these cuts.
There will be an Arts Advocacy Meeting
on Thursday, November 12th at 6pm (this Thursday) at the Union
Colony Civic Center lobby.
The UNC College Democrats is commited to
supporting local schools and educators. Let's join forces with
the major groups that support the Arts and help plan what will
happen next.
Can anyone in the group meet on Thursday
at UCCC to help define how we, as Arts Advocates and as democrats,
are going to respond and support the teachers and students in
this district ?
Let me know if you can ! I'll also be creating
an event, so just RSVP (IF you can be there).
Thanks,
Will West

Liberal
groups provide air cover to Democrats
Posted: November 9th, 2009 02:35 PM ET
From CNN Political Editor Mark Preston
WASHINGTON (CNN) A coalition of
unions, liberal interest groups and other organizations is providing
air cover for 20 House Democrats who voted this past weekend
in favor of the Democratic leadership's health care reform bill.

Pelosi
Got It Done
First Read: "Speaker Pelosi deserves her due on Saturday's
vote. She had said she'd get this out of the House as soon as
she had the votes. By going when she did, with another Dem in
her pocket (the new seat in NY-23) and keeping the House in session
over the weekend, she got it done. And she even quelled a potential
uprising among the most pro-choice members of her caucus. It
was an impressive performance; she had her share of backseat
drivers in all parts of official Washington, and she pulled it
off. By the way, the NEXT health care vote in the House should
be easier to get, given that what comes out of conference (the
"opt out" or the trigger) will likely be a tad easier
for moderates to support. That said, the abortion issue could
still end up a problem at some point in this process. But the
way she navigated the bill over the weekend should re-shape the
C.W. on her a tad."
