In his first hundred days, Barack Obama’s White House has carried out an intense outreach effort toward Hispanics, who for the first time represent nearly 10 percent of the presidential appointments who require Senate confirmation... Of the 204 officials Obama has named to date and who require Senate confirmation, 20 are Hispanic, 9.8 percent. At the end of the first year of the George W. Bush administration, of 608 positions, 34 went to Hispanics, 5.59 percent, while with Bill Clinton of 670 appointments 30 were Latino, 4.48 percent. Twenty six Hispanics work inside the White House in a variety of roles, among them four who participate in the daily senior staff meetings.

Young Democrats of Arizona Summer Internship opportunities

The Young Democrats of Arizona are looking for two to four Summer Interns. These unpaid positions will focus on research and event planning, communications, and chapter building. College credit is available depending on your school; this will be great career building experience.

While these are unpaid internships, a stipend at the conclusion of the summer may be awarded commiserate with performance. The internships will begin late May and conclude early August.

YDAz needs outgoing organizers with the ability to work independently, who believe in the values of the Young Democrats and of the Democratic Party. Do you have what it takes?

Requirements:

15 hours a week in either our Phoenix or Tucson office

Access to reliable transportation (Phoenix office is light rail adjacent)

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, and Excel, Google documents

Upbeat attitude, willing to take initiative
