(CNN) — The U.S. government intends to have all its troops
out of Iraq by the end of 2011, and it's up to the Iraqis to
make that timetable work, Vice President Joe Biden said.

both expressed differing views on whether it was a good idea.
Democrats, led by Vice President Joe Biden,
contend the stimulus money will begin launching more construction
projects and other job-creating programs now that necessary mechanisms
have been established and contracts signed. Biden told ABC’s
“This Week” that “There are going to be major
programs that are going to take effect in September … so
this is just starting.”

Iranian clerics come out against election results

TEHRAN, Iran (CNN) — Top clerics and seminary students in
Iran’s holy city of Qom have come out against the results
of the disputed June Iranian presidential election, which was
declared a landslide victory for the hard-line incumbent.
The Qom clergy — seen as the backbone
of the nation’s religious establishment — issued a
statement on Saturday, saying that the election was skewed. The
statement is a significant strike against Iran’s supreme
leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who sides with the incumbent,
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
