Friend --
On Wednesday evening, President Obama will
deliver his first State of the Union address. It comes at a critical
moment.
We must regroup, refocus, and re-engage
on the vital work ahead. So let's watch it together at a State
of the Union Watch Party in your neighborhood.
We've hit some serious bumps in the road
recently in our march toward change. We always knew it would
be difficult, but this past week has definitely been a hard one,
for all of us.
But this movement didn't come so far without
making it through some challenging times. It's at moments like
these when we need you most. People are hurting. Our country
is at a crossroads, and in communities like yours all across
America we must all fight for the progress our families and businesses
need to thrive.
The President's resolve has never been
stronger to keep fighting for health insurance reform, for lasting
job creation, and to rein in the big banks and fight the undue
influence of lobbyists. Wednesday's speech will be a pivotal
moment for us all to get on the same page and continue the fight
together.
In just two days, OFA supporters like you
will be gathering at State of the Union Watch Parties in living
rooms and community centers across the country. You can share
ideas and experiences -- and I'll be joining on the phone for
a special strategy huddle before the speech.
Find and RSVP for a State of the Union
Watch Party near you:
http://my.barackobama.com/AttendSOTU
I hope you can join us,
David Plouffe
P.S. -- Volunteers have set up hundreds
of Watch Parties over the last few days. But if there isn't one
yet near you, just sign up to host one yourself. It's easy and
fun, local OFA organizers will help you with any questions you
have, and it's an incredibly important way to let supporters
near you be part of the action:

Tech Student Democrats Formation Meeting
I entreat upon you that we want as many
people there as possible to make our organization as viable as
possible.
Perhaps you may know (or maybe you dont)
that Tech campus is right in the middle of Texas House District
84, which really just encompases the city of Lubbock. Carl Isett,
the Republican who has held the seat for the last 13 years has
resigned and we have an awesome and viable candidate in Democrat,
Carol Morgan. Carol has agreed to come to our first meeting.
She is VERY concerned with education in general and our rising
costs of tuition and will do everything in her power to work
on our behalf. So please come to the meeting, hear what she has
to say, and hopefully help work on her behalf so that we can
finally have a voice for the middle in Austin.
We will also have membership forms to fill
out, a reading of our new constitution, information on all the
Democratic candidates (and maybe a few bumper stickers to take
home with you).
Cant wait to see you all there,
Stuart

2010 7th CD DFL Convention
"The 2010 Convention of the Seventh
Congressional District Democratic-Farmer- Labor Party (CD 7 DFL)
will convene at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 10th at the Bigwood
Event Center, 925 Western Avenue, overlooking Hwy I-94 in Fergus
Falls, Minnesota. The primary business of the convention will
be to endorse a candidate for the United States House of Representatives
(a two year term, currently held by Representative Collin Peterson
of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota). Other convention business will
include election of party officers, election of state convention
committee members (as needed), officer reports, various speakers
and miscellaneous business. The convention will be proceeded
by some Seventh District Convention Committees meeting (10 a.m.
or later, as needed). The convention will be followed by a social
hour (about 5 p.m.) and a banquet (about 6 p.m.) featuring a
very special guest speaker (T.B.A. soon). Delegates and alternates
elected from the county unit conventions are delegates and alternates
to both the Seventh District DFL and State DFL Conventions. Convention
registration information is being sent to county unit chairs
and will be distributed to delegates and alternates at their
county unit convention. It is VERY IMPORTANT that delegate and
alternate names and contact information are clearly and accurately
reported to the Seventh District DFL and the MN DFL. That will
help to ensure they are registered and receive credentials at
the Seventh District and State Conventions. The Seventh Congressional
District looks forward to our convention. It is the opportunity
to elect our candidates, advance DFL principles and support constructive
public policies. Please join us at our convention and banquet
on April 10th in Fergus Falls. - Paul Wright, chair, CD 7 DFL,

Hoyer Statement on President's Support
for a Statutory Fiscal Commission and PAYGO
WASHINGTON, DC - House Majority Leader
Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today after
President Obama announced his support for the creation of a statutory
fiscal commission:
"I appreciate President Obama's announcement
today reiterating his support for statutory paygo and affirming
support for a fiscal commission.
"This announcement should eliminate
any questions about the President's commitment to creating an
effective fiscal commission to deal with our fiscal challenges.
It is now up to Republicans to follow his lead by supporting
the Conrad-Gregg proposal and, if it fails, working with the
President to make a commission created by executive order a success.
"As we work to bring down the deficits
created by their reckless policies during eight years in office,
I hope Republicans see this as an opportunity to work together
to tackle our nation's fiscal challenges."
