Solis
responds to jobs numbers
Posted: January 8th, 2010 10:15 AM ET
(CNN) – Labor Secretary Hilda Solis responded to CNN on the latest
jobs report Monday showing the economy shed 85,000 jobs in December"
"If you compare the job loss from
last year at this time we've actually been able to see that contraction
in the last four months. We've seen that happen. But of course
that's not good enough. The president and I remain very committed
every single day to see that we put and add jobs back, and today
we'll be talking about more incentives to provide tax credits
for small businesses."
Solis also promoted so-called "green jobs."
"We also see where people want to
have a career ladder in perhaps the energy efficiency arena.
So they may start out as someone who's an electrician and end
up later on being the owner of a small business that actually
helps to install solar panels. So we're trying to provide those
incentives working with community colleges, local government,
private partnerships with businesses, and really getting a handle
at the local level so it comes from the bottom up."

Hoyer Statement on President's Security
and Intelligence Review
WASHINGTON, DC – House Majority Leader
Steny H. Hoyer released the following statement today after the
President$BCT(B announcement regarding the security review after the
December 25th attempted terrorist attack:
"The President was right to act quickly
and decisively to determine the shortfalls that allowed an attempted
terrorist attack on Flight 253. While critical measures have
been put in place since 9/11 to increase our security, it is
clear that there must be a reassessment of how our system works
so that information is aggregated and analyzed so that it is
properly put to use. The actions laid out by President Obama
to bolster aviation security and ensure intelligence reports
are distributed widely and investigated quickly are appropriate
and necessary. The House will work with President Obama in the
days and months ahead to take all steps available to strengthen
national security and keep the American people safe.”

A victory for equality and justice in
Rapid City!
Friends,
Last night, in the face of organized opposition
and, frankly, a lot of hate, Rapid City did the right thing.
The Board of Education took a stand against discrimination and
voted to include sexual orientation in the district's non-discrimination
policy.
This was a great victory, but the fight
isn't over. In two weeks, the board will vote on the final reading
of the policy, and you can be sure that those that oppose equality
will be there. We still need your help; make sure those who voted
for the policy know that you support them.
Will you come to the next school board
meeting? It is scheduled for January 21st, 5:30 p.m., at the
City/School Administration Center (300 6th St.)
If you can't (or even if you can), please
send an e-mail or call the board members and tell them you support
including sexual orientation in the non-discrimination policy.
These four voted for the policy:
Wes Storm, President
Home: 342-7069
Cell: 390-3044
Email: storm10172@rushmore.com
Bret Swanson, First Vice President
Home: 343-4271

Dr. Suzan Nolan, Second Vice President
Home: 348-7499

Daphne Richards-Cook
Home: 718-7302
Work: 341-2378
Cell: 545-3351
Email: Daphne.Cook@k12.sd.us
These are the three that voted against:
Sheryl Kirkeby
Home: 343-4003
Cell: 381-7383
Work: 394-7777
Email:Sheryl.Kirkeby@k12.sd.us
Doug Kinniburgh

Cell: 381-1040
Email:Doug.Kinniburgh@k12.sd.us
Leah Lutheran

Please show your support for equality and
justice in Rapid City!

US-CERT Current Activity
VMware Releases Multiple Updates for
ESX
Original release date: January 8, 2010
at 11:05 am
Last revised: January 8, 2010 at 11:05 am
VMware has released Security Advisory VMSA-2010-0001
to address
multiple vulnerabilities in ESX Service Console packages for
Network
Security Services (NSS) and NetScape Portable Runtime (NSPR).
Exploitation of these vulnerabilities may allow an attacker to
obtain
sensitive information, cause a denial-of-service condition, bypass
security restrictions, and compromise a vulnerable system.
Additionally, VMware has updated two previously
released advisories:
VMSA-2009-0014.2 that addresses vulnerabilities in the DHCP,
Service
Console Kernel, and Java JRE packages for ESX, and VMSA-2009-0004.3
that addresses vulnerabilities in the OpenSSL, BIND, and Vim
packages
for ESX.
US-CERT encourages users and administrators
to review VMware Security
Advisory VMSA-2010-0001, VMSA-2009-0014.2, and VMSA-2009-0004.3
and
apply any necessary updates to help mitigate the risks.

Hi -
I am needing a resource that lists the Democrat vs. republican
vs. other of our legislators (senators, representatives) from
1996 to present.
I don't think we need more details than just the percentages,
and I think it is wanted on a state level.
Thanks for any help you can provide, or any resources you can
suggest.
