Ask Congress to Promote Energy Efficiency

We need aggressive action from Congress to curb global warming emissions and build a clean energy future.

The recently introduced Save American Energy Act, supported by leading environmental groups such as the Sierra Club, will address our pressing economic, energy and environmental challenges by requiring that utilities gradually increase energy savings - an average of one percent a year starting in 2012 through 2020.

Texas College Democrats: Get Involved Next Year

Hello Texas College Democrats,

I write today to encourage you and those in your chapter to consider running for office in Texas College Democrats. TCD will be electing a new Leadership Board at the Texas Young Democrats Convention on April 18, and it would be great to see some new folks getting involved. The following positions are up for election:

President
Vice President
Development Director
Secretary
Membership Director
Programs Director
Political Issues Director
Communications Director

In addition, the outgoing president (that would be me) serves on the Leadership Board as president emeritus, as a kind of advisor to the group.

These positions--especially the director positions, are a great way to begin to get involved with Democratic politics on the state level. Also, the new president and board will be empowered to appoint other leaders within TCD to work on special initiatives and projects, so there are lots of ways to get involved.

If you (or anyone in your chapter) would like to run for one of these positions, please send a statement of candidacy of 300 words or less to Tory.Lauterbach@gmail.com. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks!

Tory
